Need help to create an independent future?

Early adulthood can be a difficult time – so many changes and expectations. Sometimes things just don’t work out as you had expected.

The Family Works Youth Service team can help you get back on track and heading towards a brighter, more independent future. We offer coaching and mentoring to help you into education, training or work-based learning. We’ll also support you as you work through day-to-day issues while you’re getting sorted.

Youth Service is a Work and Income initiative so some eligibility criteria do apply (see below). Don’t fret! The Family Works team can help you with the application process make sure you receive the moral and financial support that you’re entitled to.

Who is eligible?

You may eligible for Youth Service support if:

  • You are aged between 16 – 19 years, are single and can’t live with your parents or guardian, or be supported by them any longer
  • You are aged between 16 – 18 years, have dependent children and need financial help
  • You are aged between 16 – 19 years and are with a partner who meets specific Work & Income criteria
  • You are receiving Work and Income’s Youth Payment or Youth Parent Payment

The Family Works Youth Service team will support you to:

  • Complete your Youth Payment or Young Parent Payment applications
  • Better manage your money
  • Assess – and access, education options
  • Stay healthy and well
  • Be a good parent

We’ll also be your advocate – making sure that you receive the assistance that you’re entitled to.
